I first got inspired to take part in World Carnivore Month after listening to Joe Rogan talk about his experience with doing the carnivore diet, which he did in January 2020. His results were incredible. If you know who Joe Rogan is and what massive influence he has, you will probably know what happened next.
Rogan inspired many fans, including me, to try the carnivore diet for World Carnivore Month. This year, I’m finally doing The Lion Diet for World Carnivore Month.
But first…
What is Word Carnivore Month?
World Carnivore Month occurs in January. It is basically a global group challenge where participants stick to a carnivore diet for the entire January.
Can Anyone Participate in World Carnivore Month?
Oh yes. It won’t cost you anything to do this challenge. All you’ll have to pay for is your meat for the month and salt.
When the first “Happy New Year” is uttered, that’s when your carnivore diet, and World Carnivore Month, start. If you want, you can document your experience and journey on social media, or browse through other people’s posts when you search for #worldcarnivoremonth.
You’ll quickly see that there is a whole community of people doing it with you.
What Can You Eat During World Carnivore Month?
During World Carnivore Month, you have to stick to eating only animal foods. There are different variations of the carnivore diet, including:
- The Lion Diet: Where you only consume meat from ruminant animals, water, and salt.
- Standard Carnivore Diet: Where you eat meat, eggs, and organ meats.
- Nose-to-Tail Carnivore Diet: Where you focus on eating all parts of the animal and not just muscle meat.
- Carbed-Up Carnivore: Where you eat meats and hopefully organ meats, but also indulge in animal-based carb sources like milk and other dairy products, as well as honey.
- Dirty Carnivore Diet: Where you don’t care what your meat was cooked in or if it contains other hidden ingredients, as long as it’s meat or eggs and basically zero carb. You can also do a dirty carnivore diet and eat carbs if you eat animal foods like honey and dairy products. People on a dirty carnivore diet will eat processed meats too. You’ll often see them getting fast food burgers and only eating the patties, eating various processed sausages, or getting chicken wings coated in sauce.
You can choose what type of carnivore diet to follow if you’re going to take on the challenge.
Guidelines for Participating in World Carnivore Month
Before you start the carnivore diet, here are a few guidelines you should be aware of:
- Make sure you have enough salt and other electrolytes. You can lose a lot of water when you switch to a low-carb or even zero-carb diet like the carnivore diet. Having enough electrolytes will help you stay hydrated and help your energy levels stay elevated.
- Make sure there’s enough meat in the house. You might get a little hungry at first on this diet (at least I did). Make sure you have enough meat to eat, so other foods will become less tempting when you’re hungry.
- If you’re hungry, eat! Listen to your body, don’t worry about calories, and eat when you’re hungry. With all that protein, you don’t have to worry that much about weight gain. If you want to do the carnivore diet to lose weight, wait until you feel like your body has adapted to this way of eating, then you can play around with your calorie intake and try to lose weight. And you can still lose weight on the carnivore diet while you’re eating as much as you feel your body needs. That’s what happened to me.
- Do it with a friend. Get a friend or family member to do it with you, or find some people online who are also doing it. Doing the carnivore diet will be much easier if you have a good support system. My husband and I are doing it together, which helps.
- Tell your friends and family you’re doing it beforehand. It was hard for me to tell loved ones beforehand that I was going to do the carnivore diet. If you prepare everyone beforehand, they won’t be surprised when you show up at their house and can’t eat the food they prepared. They won’t be surprised that you can’t drink with them or go to any restaurant.
These are just a few guidelines for participating in World Carnivore Month. It will happen every January, so whenever you’re intrigued and ready, I highly encourage you to challenge yourself to follow a carnivore diet and start the year with an interesting challenge that could change your life.
